As technology evolves in our daily lives, Pelican Elementary adopts this technology and integrates it into our curriculum. Every class, kindergarten through fifth grade, is equipped with Chromebooks, LCD projector, document camera, and SMART boards, which are interactive whiteboards. We have two computer labs and six mobile computer labs, containing 30 Chromebooks each. By building an early knowledge of computer schools, students will be better prepared for middle and high school, and ultimately, the future!
Precision Jump Rope Team
The Precision Jump Rope Team is a demonstration team for the American Heart Association to promote the Jump Rope for Heart Program. Our students proudly represent our school in more than twenty performances each year. Our team has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars over the years for the American Heart Association.
Fifth graders have the chance to participate in Pelican’s Safety Patrol Programs. Students are nominated for showing superior citizenship and responsibility. A Safety Patrol’s duties include maintaining a safe environment in the hallways, on the bus ramp, and at parent pick-up.
WPEN Morning News
Pelican Elementary produces a daily morning live news show, called WPEN Morning News. The program begins with announcements from our student newscaster and an administrator, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Our fifth grade students work the cameras and audio/video board, and organize any special guests, such as Accelerated Reader achievers. Students receive a hands-on introduction to communications and learn that they can pursue it as a career!
