Southwest Florida Military Museum, located in Southeast Cape Coral, is an organization that is dedicated to honoring our military by displaying and preserving military artifacts and memorabilia, while educating future generations about our nation’s military heritage. Our 34,000 square foot facility contains collections of military artifacts, books, and papers that continues to grow.

Our museum features displays ranging from the Revolutionary War through the Afghanistan conflict, and all artifacts have been donated or loaned by the military, government and generous individuals.

Museum

Our family-friendly, interactive environment features 60 fully-dressed, historically accurate mannequins including George Washington, Phil Rassmussan (a decorated WWII pilot from Fort Myers), and Capt. Channing Page the local WWI flying ace for whom the Fort Myers Public Airport is named. . Our displays range from the Revolutionary War to the Afghanistan Conflict. The museum features a wide array of relics from each war, including a wheel-lock pistol from the 1600’s, a derringer (small gun) that belonged to a Civil War General, a leather flight helmet from World War I, a Japanese training machine gun and telephone from the Reichstag from World War II, a Remington 700 Sniper Rifle from the Gulf War, and much more!

Library

The Southwest Florida Military Museum and Library contains an extensive collection of books, manuals, yearbooks, VHS tapes and DVDs pertaining to American Military history. Our library features over 4,800 non-fiction books on ships, airplanes, vehicles and other military subjects ranging from the Revolutionary War to the Afghanistan Conflict. Our Library also features a special Al Cook Memorial Book. Al cook was a veteran and author of many World War II books. Our library has a model airplane collection, displaying many of our history’s military airplanes, and a 37-star flag is displayed on the back wall of the library
