To provide its members with the opportunity to meet others in our community with similar interests and a facility to accommodate various events, groups, clubs and activities.
Whether you want to play bridge, ping pong, shuffleboard, or just want to exercise, there is something for everyone to do! Most activities are seasonal – from October through April – since many of our members escape the heat of Florida summers.
Seasonal events include “Big Breakfast”, a popular event that is held the mornings before rummage and vendor sales. This pairing of shopping, friends and food is referred to as the Fall, Winter and Spring Festivals. The Photo Expo is a day filled with music, shopping, an auction and a photo contest, where local artists show their creativity.
The Order of the Golden Brush
Founded by Gladys Stroud, Golden Brush Workshops over artistic exploration where people inspire each other to be creative and rediscover the artist within. Once a week, members, friends and guests meet at the Saint James Civic Association to share ideas and techniques from artists of all mediums and all levels of expertise.
Get involved with the St. James City Civic Association Photography Club on the second and fourth Monday every month from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Participants take part in programs on composition, camera functions, artistic values, extreme close-ups, depth-of-field and friendly photo critiques. The Photography Club was formed in 2008 for photographers to meet and share photos, tips, and camera information. All photographers are welcome from beginners to professionals.
Pickin’ in the City
Participants bring instruments for jam sessions with local talent! Pickin’ in the City takes place January – March on the first and third Sundays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Join an audience and enjoy local bands getting together and playing the best music Pine Island has to offer!
